On a personal note…

At this strangest of times, I was presented with an opportunity that I treasured. A group of parents reached out to inquire about hiring PforPP for their children (my former students). They were looking for a series of Zoom health lessons and I was only too happy to oblige. 

Challenges

As many of you are learning, teaching outside the classroom is challenging. The same children who never stopped chatting in class were strangely quiet. Finding subject matter to amuse and engage became my mission and as we got going, things began to pick up.

“The” words

One thing I realized- the words that illicit nervous giggles in the classroom have the same reaction via zoom. There is always one child who is willing to shout “the words” and the zoom lesson was no different. “PENIS!!!!!!!”. Thank you buddy; that was a real ice-breaker. 

It’s been rough

One thing for certain- this quarantine has been difficult for everyone. For children, adaptable as they may be, this is a very unnatural situation and I could see that in the students whom I know so well. We can continue to pray for a safe resolution to this public health crisis so that our most precious children will be able to resume the lives they know- days spent with their peers and the teachers who love them.
